Kristen Stewart Is A 'Fantastic' Snow White, Says Nick Frost
After the release of an impressive first trailer, expectations for "Snow White and the Huntsman" shot sky high. All of the sudden, a film that people knew almost nothing about aside from its star-studded cast led by Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth, became one of the most anticipated movies of 2012. But the question lingers for many fans: can Kristen Stewart carry a film that isn't "Twilight"? She didn't speak a word in the trailer, which depended largely on a perfectly evil Charlize Theron to sell the film, and potential Twi-hard backlash could sink "SWATH" before it even hits theaters. One of Snow White's trusted dwarves, Nick Frost, assured MTV News that Stewart does more than enough to prove herself. "It was our last day on Friday, and she has kind of a big rabble rousing speech, and she's great. She's fun on set. She's a fantastic actress," said Frost while promoting "The Adventures of Tintin." Frost feels that people can discount Stewart unfairly because of her previous work, but there are a few things they don't keep in mind. "I think people forget she's fairly young still, but she's dedicated and she wants to do a good job," he said. "Often, I don't think people take that into consideration. She's doing 'Twilight' and stuff like that, but she's dedicated." It's the combination of Stewart's age and the amount of work that "SWATH" demanded that really left an impression on Frost. "How old is she? Twenty-three, twenty-four?" Frost asked. "I don't know that many twenty-three or twenty-four year-olds that get picked up at 4 am and work until 10 at night, six days a week. She comes on set smiling and laughing, and she knows her lines." What do you think of what Nick Frost had to say about Kristen Stewart? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter!

Was 'The Girl Using the Dragon Tattoo' Hurt by Foreign Remake Fatigue?
Audiences were not just disinterested within the Bosnian war over Christmas ticket purchasers were also somewhat awesome on 'The Girl Using the Dragon Tattoo.' The long awaited self-announced "feel below par movie of Christmas," finished in 4th place within the holiday with $19.4 million, and it has made $27 million since release last Tuesday. What could trigger the less-than-thrilling amounts? Possibly remake fatigue. Because the La Occasions highlights, the David Fincher-directed version of 'The Girl Using the Dragon Tattoo' may be the latest inside a growing type of fiscally disappointing remakes from recent European source material. (The initial adaptation of 'The Girl Using the Dragon Tattoo' arrived on the scene in '09.) From 'Let Me In' (modified from 'Let the correct one In') to 'Brothers' (modified from 'Brothers'), you will find lots of recent foreign hits which have unsuccessful for connecting with American audiences. Obviously, that may not be with 'Dragon Tattoo.' In the end, the film is almost two-and-a-half hrs long (which limits daily showings), ranked 'R,' and -- because the millions who read Stieg Larsson's source material know -- full of rape, incest and excessive violence against women. Not always the kind of happy Christmas fare that families were searching to determine within their escape towards the cinemas earlier this weekend. Plus, 'Dragon Tattoo' has gotten strong reviews, meaning its word-of-mouth will propel the film with the holiday week. The feeling-bad movie of Christmas might become the must-see film of recent Year's for grown ups. Which would be to say, don't discount 'The Girl Using the Dragon Tattoo' from the box-office perspective at this time. Besides, Larsson's books were worldwide best-retailers -- and 'Dragon Tattoo' hasn't folded out overseas in almost any kind of major way. Unlike the Millennium Trilogy, the financials of Fincher's adaptation haven't yet been written. Translation: there's still expect Rooney Mara to experience with fire. The Sitter: Film Review
This story appears in the Dec. 16 issue of The Hollywood Reporter. Earvin "Magic"Johnson, now 52, won five NBA titles when he played for the 1980s "Showtime" Lakers; his Magic Johnson Enterprises, which once included a theater chain, was estimated by Forbes in 2009 to be worth $500 million; and as of Dec. 2, he was part of a bid to buy the Los Angeles Dodgers. But he threw up a brick when he entered the late-night talk show business with 1998's The Magic Hour, two years after ending his 13-year playing career. The Hollywood Reporter review said the syndicated Twentieth Television show was "absent the spark of spontaneity and sharp conversation." While Magic Hour started strong and even briefly topped CBS' Late Show With David Letterman in the NY ratings, success was fleeting. Critics said Johnson seemed stiff on-air, was prone to mumbling and had poor interviewing skills. His sidekick, comic Craig Shoemaker, was fired for calling the show "an absolute nightmare." But Magic Hour did have one high point when its most high-profile critic, Howard Stern, was invited as a guest. The shock jock began by asking, "Where's the white guy, the comedian?" (Johnson's response: "We weren't clicking"), then gave the novice host interviewing advice ("Loosen up and talk Ebonics all you want. Why does everyone have to understand every word you say?") and asked detailed questions about Johnson's sex life before becoming HIV-positive in 1991. Although the Stern appearance doubled the show's ratings, it was off the air after three months. Johnson then focused on deals with Burger King, PepsiCo, Ron Burkle and others that financially freed him from ever having to host a talk show again. Related Topics Howard Stern Earvin Magic Johnson

What Kevin Spacey Thinks About Using Cell Phones in Theaters
While there’s hope that one idiotic theater in Washington encouraging audiences to text during movies dies a speedy death, take heart in the actions of new Movieline hero Kevin Spacey. The actor took a stand at a recent Sydney performance of Richard III when a rude theatergoer answered their cell phone during the play. “Spacey, the would-be Duke of Gloucester, singled out the phone owner and bellowed ‘Tell them we’re busy!’,” reports the UK Telegraph. “The audience erupted in support.” Sigh. If only actors could leap off the screen to do the same in cineplexes. [Telegraph via Movie City News]
