Dakota Fanning's Perfume Ad Banned

Dakota Fanning isn't one to sidestep controversy. In 2007, her movie 'Hounddog' featured a scene where her character was raped (Fanning was only 14 at the time); in 2010, she had a rather provocative kissing scene with co-star Kristen Stewart in 'The Runaways'; today, we have another mini-scandal -- although this one has nothing to do with a movie. According to The Telegraph, an advertisement Fanning did for Marc Jacbos perfume, Oh, Lola!, has been banned due to its sexual nature. In the ad, which you can see below, the actress is shown wearing a short skirt with a giant bottle of perfume in between her legs. The Advertising Standards Authority, the UK regulatory agency that decided to ban the ad, had this to say about their decision: "We understood the model [Fanning] was 17 years old but we considered she looked under the age of 16. We considered that the length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality. Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualise a child." The Telegraph also said that Fanning was "humbled" when she was first asked to star in the Marc Jacob campaign.
